MAKE DISCIPLES! If you’re saved — you’re sent. (Matthew 28:16-20)

What is discipleship?

A faith-fueled relationship where you invite someone toFOLLOW YOU AS YOU FOLLOW CHRIST.” (1 corinthians 11:1)

What is the gospel?

The good news that ETERNAL LIFE & LIFE TO THE FULL is available by GRACE alone, through FAITH alone, in CHRIST alone.

HOW TO “MAKE DISCIPLES”

1. InvitE someone to follow Jesus WITH YOU!

What do you already do to invest in your faith? Do you go to church? Read the Bible? Pray? Share your faith? Discipleship means consistently inviting someone to do these things with you!

2. Seek to become more like Jesus TOGETHER!

We become more like Jesus by knowing more about who Jesus is, and we learn about who Jesus is — by reading the Bible! Discipleship always involves studying God’s Word and praying together.

3. FIGHT FOR ACCOUNTABILITY!

Following Jesus is the best life… But it is not the easiest life. Walking in freedom from sin and staying faithful to our commitments to God is hard! However, with encouragement from a faith-filled friend, it is possible!

4. Equip them to become a MULTIPLIER!

Jesus designed the Church to grow by multiplication, not addition. That means the end-goal is to challenge the person you are discipling — to go make disciples themselves!

DISCIPLESHIP = "FOLLOW ME AS I FOLLOW CHRIST!"

HOW TO SHARE THE GOSPEL

CONVERSATION STARTERS

1 . If you see someone who has a visible injury or illness, stop and say something like: “Excuse me, I don’t mean to interrupt your day, but I can see that you’re were injured, and I wanted to ask if I could pray for you real quick! I believe in a God who heals!”

2 . As you’re walking around, ask God to reveal who he wants you to talk to. When you’re ready, step out in faith & say something like: “Hey there! (Introduce yourself) I know this may be weird to you, but I feel like God wanted me to ask you where you’re at with Jesus?

3 . If you feel led, start the conversation by asking about church. Say something like: “Sorry to interrupt you… But I felt led to ask if you have a home church or faith community you attend?”

the gospel explained

Even if someone you’re talking to says they are a “Christian” or “go to Church”, it’s always good to ask the following question:

“When you think about God & your life so far… On a scale of 0 - 10, how confident are you that you’re going to go to Heaven?”

Most people will say something between1 & 9”. If they do, say something like:

Respect! A lot of people feel similar to you. But here’s the thing: As you may know, according to the Bible, in the end there is only “0 and 10”. There is no “1 through 9”! And if you think you’re something “1 through 9”, then that means you’re thinking like a “0”. Here’s what I mean: If you think you’re a “5, 6, or 7”, then that means there’s something in your mind that’s telling you that YOU are the one that needs to be good enough to get into Heaven. But that’s not the Gospel! The Good News about Jesus says we could NEVER be good enough to earn Heaven or anywhere close to a “10 out of 10”. But Jesus loved us so much that he lived a perfect life we never could. That means we can be “10 out of 10” - not because we earned it - but because Jesus did it for us! So I don’t know where you’re at, but we can pray right now and you can go home today “10 out 10” confident about where you will spend eternity. Do you want that? I would be honored to pray with you if you do!”

If they say “10 out of 10”, say something like:

That’s awesome! Praise God! Is there anything I can pray with you for?

SALVATION PRAYER

The Bible says that if you CONFESS with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and BELIEVE in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. So if you’re comfortable with it, repeat after me:

Dear Jesus - Thank you - For dying on the Cross for my sins - I receive your Grace - And I receive your Forgiveness - So from this day forward - I’m gonna live for you - No matter what - No turning back - You are my Lord - And my Savior - Help me Jesus - Live for You - All the days of my life - Thank you Jesus - For Saving me.
